Advertiser Staff

Hilo's Kimberly Kim earned first-team Rolex Junior All-America first-team honors again yesterday when the American Junior Golf Association announced its top 96 golfers between the ages of 13 and 18. The golfers come from 26 states and four foreign countries.

Kim, 17, now lives in Arizona and is a senior at Xavier College Preparatory School in Phoenix. She is a five-time Rolex Junior All-American and placed in the top 10 in five national junior golf tournaments this season.

Kim advanced to the championship match of the Polo Golf Junior Classic to begin her 2008 campaign, and her tournament total of 4-under-par 212 earned her a tie for second at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship in June. Kim also finished tied for third at the ReBath Heather Farr Classic in March and tied for second at the Joanne Winter Silver Belle last December. Ranked No. 4 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Kim has verbally committed to play at Oklahoma State next fall.

Of the PGA Tour's current top-10 money leaders, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Anthony Kim, Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard were Rolex Junior All-Americans. On the LPGA Tour, Paula Creamer, In-Bee Park and Cristie Kerr were All-Americans. Other notable AJGA alumni who were former All-Americans include Jim Furyk, Ryuji Imada, Ben Curtis, Trevor Immelman, Angela Park, In-Kyung Kim and Jane Park.
