Man arrested in Kailua suspected of moped theft, firearm possession

A 22-year-old man was arrested today in Kailua on suspicion of operating a stolen moped and possession of an unregistered firearm.
The man was stopped by a patrol officer fronting 596 Keolu Drive at 3:40 p.m. for a traffic violation. During the stop, it was discovered the moped was stolen. While processing the moped, police found an unregistered pistol in the storage compartment.
