Advertiser Staff

Big Island police today arrested a 28-year-old Kealakekua woman and Ka'u man, 34, for investigation of attempted murder in connection with an attack Sunday on a 33-year-old man, who is listed in stable condition at The Queen's Medical Center.

Charges are pending against the suspects being held at the Kona police station cellblock. The woman has two prior conviction and the man one conviction, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.

According to police, the woman lured the victim out of his Hawaiian Ocean View Estates home late Sunday night. The victim got on a motorcycle and was going down his driveway when the male suspect allegedly drove a gold sports utility vehicle at him, causing a compound fracture to the victim's right leg. The male suspect then got out of the SUV and hit the victim on the head with a football-size rock, causing additional injuries, police said.

The suspects fled and police recovered the abandoned SUV yesterday at 7 a.m.
