WICHITA, Kan. — Norm Duke became the first player in PBA history to win three consecutive majors with a victory in the PBA World Championship today.

Duke, of Clermont, Fla., beat 2007-08 PBA Player of the Year Chris Barnes in the final, 259-189, to win his second straight World Championship.

"That hasn't hit me," Duke said of the historic win. "I was focused on winning the World Championship. When I heard that, it kind of choked me up. It's a dream and I want to thank my family for standing by me the whole time."

Duke threw seven straight strikes in the championship game before leaving the 10-pin standing in the eighth. Duke got a two-year exemption and a $50,000 prize with his 30th PBA career title and sixth major win.

Duke also had consecutive wins at two other majors: the 2007-08 Denny's World Championship and the U.S. Open.

The PBA World Championship was the first event of the 50th Anniversary Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season.
