Running: Cheruiyot wins Frankfurt Marathon

FRANKFURT, Germany — Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot broke the course record to win the Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday, leading a Kenyan sweep of the top 10 places.
Cheruiyot finished in 2 hours, 7 minutes, 21 seconds on an overcast but relatively mild day on the street course through Germany's financial capital.
Wilson Kigen was second in 2:08.16 and Stephen Kiogora placed third in 2:08.24, after falling shortly before the finish line in Frankfurt's Festhalle concert hall.
Sabrina Mockenhaupt of Germany ran a personal best of 2:26.22 to win the women's race ahead of Olesya Nurgalieva of Russia.
Nurgalieva clocked 2:27.37 and Melanie Kraus of Germany was third in 2:28.20.
