Meeting set on scope of Ala Wai Watershed EIS

Advertiser Staff

The Ala Wai Watershed Project is being developed in partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the city and county of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services.

The purpose of the project is to manage water resources within the Ala Wai Watershed.

Specifically, the project is investigating and evaluating solutions to restore ecosystem function and reduce flood hazards throughout the areas of Makiki, Manoa, Palolo, St. Louis, Kapahulu, Diamond Head, McCully, Mo'ili'ili, Ala Moana, and Waikiki. The preliminary assessment of this action is that the project may cause significant local, regional, and national impacts on the environment. A Federal Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 2.
