BIG ISLAND
Mayoral candidates to speak at public forum

A forum featuring Big Island mayoral candidates Billy Kenoi and Angel Pilago will be held Oct. 16.

Kenoi, a former deputy public defender and former executive assistant to Big Island Mayor Harry Kim, is making his first run for public office. He is opposed by Pilago, a two-term county councilman and Vietnam War veteran. Kenoi and Pilago were the top finishers in the primary election in the nonpartisan race.

The forum at Kealakehe High School will begin at 6 p.m., and will air live islandwide on the FM station LAVA 105.3. Moderator will be Sherry Bracken, public affairs director for Mahalo Broadcasting Radio Stations.

The event is sponsored by the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, the Kona Outdoor Circle, the Peoples Advocacy Trails Hawaii, the Kona Board of Realtors and the Hawai'i Island Board of Realtors.
