Annual pet blessing ceremony set for Saturday

Advertiser Staff

The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew will conduct its annual animal blessing ceremony at noon Saturday.

The Very Rev. Timothy W. Sexton, provost, will lead a service to bless pets and other animals.

Participants will be able to listen to the cathedral choir and organ while learning more about St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, as well as meet adoptable pets from the Hawaii Dog Foundation and CatFriends, speak with local animal care and protection organizations and enjoy a free lunch.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew is at Queen Emma Square on the corner of Beretania and Alakea streets in downtown Honolulu.

Free parking is available, enter the cathedral grounds from Beretania Street.

An adoption fair and picnic will follow the blessing.

All participants must have their animals on a leash or in a carrier during the event. Animals are the sole responsibility of their owners, not the organizers of the event.
