TODAY'S MUST-SEE

"Desperate Housewives," 8 p.m., ABC. In the previous episode, a fire ripped through a nightclub, leaving six people dead. Viewers know it was started by Dave, Edie's evil husband. Others, however, think Dave's a hero; police arrested Porter (the teen son of Tom and Lynette), who had impregnated the nightclub owner's wife. Now comes the aftermath — including good news for one family. There's even some humor, as Bree prepares for her big cooking demonstration.

TODAY'S MIGHT-SEE

"Home for the Holidays," 8 p.m., HGTV. Here's pure decorative excess: Lisa LaPorta fills her mother's California front yard with tons of artificial snow. Northerners, who understand snow-avoidance, will flinch. Still, the bubbly LaPorta and her mom seem delighted. That's part of an hour devoted to the HGTV designers at home. Even the ending is fun, as Eric Stromer's tykes take part in his family rock band.

OF NOTE

"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (2003), 5 p.m., TNT; or "Return of the Jedi" (1983), 6 p.m., Spike. Two great trilogies conclude.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7 p.m., ABC. When Tim Nickless died, his widow was left with three sons (now 11, 9 and 7) and an 1860s farmhouse. Now the team builds them a new home.

"The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course" (2002), 8 p.m., CW, Oceanic digital channel 93. The network has suddenly cancelled Sunday shows ("Valentine," "Easy Money," etc.) most viewers had never heard of. Now those are replaced by reruns (including "Jericho" at 7) and a movie. This one had the late Steve Irwin chasing a satellite capsule swallowed by a crocodile.

"Britz," 3 p.m., BBC America, Oceanic digital channel 341; reruns at 5:30 and 8. Fierce and uncompromising, this miniseries views the war on terrorism through the eyes of British Muslims. Sunday's story, focusing on a young man who works for the government, is fairly strong. Monday's conclusion, with his sister's view of the same story, is devastating.

"A Dennis the Menace Christmas" (2007), 8 and 10 p.m., ABC Family. Robert Wagner plays Mr. Wilson with Dennis trying to inject him with Christmas spirit.

"The Unit," 9 p.m., CBS. A Defense Department official feels his high-tech information is more trustworthy than the unit's field work. Also, Kim has a problem with a killer boss.
