More than 100 sacks totaling about 50 tons of scaled rock and debris material was lifted from the slopes of Diamond Head State Monument.

The work, conducted by personnel from Pacific Helicopters today, is part of the state Department of Land and Natural Resource's maintenance of the crater's slopes and removal of rockfall hazards.

The park and summit trails, closed since Oct. 20, will reopen to the public at 6 a.m. Nov. 21.
