Soccer: Landon Donovan named top U.S. player

Soccer star Landon Donovan was named the 2008 Honda Player of the Year — for the best player on the U.S. National Soccer Team — an unprecedented fifth time.
Donovan received 297 points, followed by Tim Howard (249 ) and Clint Dempsey (176), in a vote of 213 sports journalists in the U.S.
Donovan tops the U.S. National Team all-time in scoring, with 37 goals. No other player won the award more than twice.
