A delegation representing Pingtung, Taiwan, met with officials on Maui today to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their "sister cities" relationship.

The visiting group presented a Pingtung flag and calligraphy honoring the pursuit of world peace and inter-cultural understanding to Maui Mayor Charmaine Tavares.

Pingtung County, located on the southern tip of Taiwan, has a population of about 900,000 and shares many similarities in agricultural and technology-oriented industries, natural beauty and rich cultural heritage with its sister city in Hawai'i, Maui officials said.
