Not wont to take a good street festival for granted, Honolulans can plan on tonight for their next dose of sidewalk culture.

This island's home of spouting waters — otherwise known as Waikiki — rolls out the pavement for the third annual Waikiki By Moonlight block party.

A portion of Kalakaua Avenue will be transformed into a moonlit-bathed strip that will play host to all manner of street fair fare: food, entertainment and, if all goes well, crowds.

The event is spearheaded every year by the Waikiki Improvement Association and is co-sponsored this year by ResortQuest Hawaii, which will provide the main stage for the evening's entertainment. Scheduled to perform are singers Teresa Bright and the ensembles Kalapana and Mana'o Company; and Merrie Monarch winners Halau Hula Olana.

Japanese pop group Tube will also make an appearance.

Food will be courtesy of a number of Waikiki eateries, including Doraku Sushi, Seafood Village, Coconut Willy's, Giovanni Pastrami and various hotel restaurant kitchens. Food items will be priced from $6 to $12.

The block party will take place on Kalakaua Avenue, between Ka'iulani and Ke'alohilani avenues from 6 to 10 p.m. today. Admission is free.
