The nonprofit, orthodox Jewish organization, in conjunction with the U.S. military, is sending a junior rabbi to the two-and-a-half mile long atoll to serve an estimated 18 people out of the atoll's population of 1,400. Most of the Jewish community members are in the islands as civilian military employees.
Rabbi Shmuel Schneerson will be conducting Sabbath services from Thursday, May 22, until Tuesday, May 27.
Chabad of Hawaii is part of the worldwide Chabad Lubavitch organization, meeting the needs for Sabbath and holiday services and meals, child and adult education, emergency financial aid, burials, hospital visits and counseling.
