Reginald Carlos "Red" Pettway yesterday waived extradition proceedings in Mobile, Ala., and will be brought back to Honolulu on charges connected to the May 2007 slaying of suspected drug dealer Benjamin Grajeda in Kane'ohe.

An extradition date is expected to be set at a hearing today in Mobile, where the 30-year-old Pettway is being held by police on a $2 million warrant charging him with first-degree burglary and being an accomplice to first-degree robbery and kidnapping. Pettway was arrested last week by the U.S. Marshals Service.

In Honolulu yesterday, 28-year-old Jerrico Dewon "Rick" Lindsey, the accused shooter, and Melissa Ordonez, 22, whom police allege orchestrated the break-in, kidnapping and robbery plot that ended in murder, both pleaded not guilty at Circuit Court.

The trial for Lindsey, Ordonez and Pettway is scheduled to begin July 7 but will likely be delayed, attorneys said.

Nine of 15 counts in last week's indictment involve Lindsey: second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening, and four firearm charges, including use of a semi-automatic assault pistol equipped with a magazine holding more than 10 rounds.

Lindsey is being held in lieu of $3 million bail at the O'ahu Community Correctional Center, said his lawyer, William A. Harrison.

Ordonez, also known as Rihanna Joy Valentino, is charged with being an accomplice to first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and kidnapping. Her bail is $2 million. She is also at OCCC. Attorney Michael Green is representing Ordonez.

Charles Lee Freeman Jr., the fourth suspect, pleaded guilty to what prosecutors described as "charges related to the case." Freeman, who allegedly drove the getaway car, is believed to be cooperating with prosecutors. He is also the friend whom Pettway came to visit in Honolulu last May in violation of his Alabama probation for a drug conviction, which prohibited him from leaving the state.

Grajeda was beaten and kidnapped from his Kane'ohe apartment May 14 and gunned down on Kane'ohe Bay Drive after escaping from the trunk of a car.
