HILO VICTORY OVER WAIAKEA STANDS
Waiakea was listed in this week's Advertiser Baseball Top 10 poll of coaches and media as "the state's only unbeaten team," which was true last weekend.
But earlier this week, an earlier outright victory by Hilo over Waiakea — which had been forfeited by the Vikings due to an ineligible player — was restored after it was discovered the player's failing grade was in a non-core elective subject.
So the No. 6-ranked Warriors, listed as 11-0 in Wednesday's poll, entered last night's Big Island Interscholastic Federation tournament final against Kamehameha-Hawai'i at 11-1.
Results of the game were not available at The Advertiser's Neighbor Island edition deadline.
