Fire rescue specialists are hiking the Wa'ahila Ridge trail above St. Louis Heights to locate a man, his 6-month pregnant wife and their 5-year-old child.

The Honolulu Fire Department is not using its helicopter due to heavy cloud cover so Rescue 1 personnel is hiking the trail to find the hikers, HFD spokesman Capt. Earle Kealoha said at about 8 p.m.

The hikers requested assistance at about 7 p.m. and are in contact with HFD by cell phone.
