Bottled Primo beer returns to Hawaii shelves today

Advertiser Staff

Starting today, bottled Primo beer is once again available in neighborhood stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants across Hawai'i.

The introduction of Primo's bottled product by Primo Brewing & Malting Co. follows the launch of its draft beer in December, which marked the first time Primo has been available to local residents in almost a decade.

The new Primo bottles have the look of the familiar royal blue iconic label of the 1960s but with a distinctly modern look, including a new-generation bottle and taste.

Local stores such as Sue's Mini Mart, Ewa Pantry and Pali Bottle Shoppe will receive their first shipment of the bottles today. Over the next several weeks, Primo will become available at larger retailers and supermarkets, including Tamura's Fine Wine & Liquor and Fujioka's Wine Times, as well as bars and restaurants across Hawai'i, including The Willows, Tiare's Sports Bar & Grill and T-Spot Hideaway. It is expected to be on store shelves in the premium-beer section.

Primo Beer was originally brewed in Hawai'i in 1898 by Honolulu Brewing & Malting Company. Today Primo is part of Pabst Brewing Co. Distributed locally by Paradise Beverages, Primo is produced and bottled in Irwindale, Calif. Primo draft is produced locally by Keoki Brewing of Lihu'e.
