Pedestrian critical after being struck

A 30-year-old Waipahu man walking across Farrington Highway in Waipahu was critically injured early yesterday morning when he was hit by a car, police said.
The man, who was not in a crosswalk, was struck shortly after midnight as he walked on the highway near Kahuali'i Street, police said.
The 30-year-old driver of the car, also of Waipahu, was not injured. Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the driver's action, police said.
Police said the accident occurred in a lighted area of the highway under good driving conditions.
MOLOKA'I TEEN HURT IN CAR CRASH
A 16-year-old Moloka'i boy was critically injured yesterday when the stolen car he was driving crashed on Kamehameha V Highway near Kawela, Maui police said.
The boy was taken by air ambulance to The Queen's Medical Center following the 5 a.m. single-car crash, police said.
Three other boys, ages 14, 15, and 16, in the car suffered less serious injuries and were treated and released.
Police on Moloka'i said the investigation continues.
