ADD MORE EXERCISE TO YOUR WORKDAY
Many of us have sedentary jobs in which we spend most of the day sitting. By adding extra steps during the day, we can burn more calories, stay alert and maintain mental sharpness. Here are a few tips on how to stay active during workdays: Walk, bike or ride TheBus at least one day a week; take the stairs instead of the elevator; hold walking meetings where you are both productive and active; use a restroom on another floor; and walk to lunch or eat outside. These ideas will help you add extra minutes of physical activity into your day and help you reach the target of 30 minutes a day of walking. For more tips on walking, see www.healthyhawaii.com.
