Police investigating narcotics theft from hospital

Police are investigating last month's theft of narcotic drugs from Wahiawa General Hospital's pharmacy.
The pharmacy was broken in through a window on Feb. 6, and about $100 worth of morphine and vicodin were taken, said Jeffrey Kong, the hospital's director of pharmacy services. No arrests have been made.
Kong said the burglary did not result in any patient safety issues or compromise of patient information. He said pharmacy staff immediately inspected all drugs, checked computers, and replaced about 10 percent of the pharmacy's drug inventory to ensure patient safety.
The hospital also increased its security measures, he said.
