The state Department of Transportation has extended to March 29 the comment period on a draft environmental impact statement for Kahului Commercial Harbor 2030 Master Plan.

The agency wants to expand facilities at the Maui harbor to provide additional berthing and storage space for cargo and passenger ships.

A separate environmental study is being done on harbor facilities built to accommodate the Hawaii Superferry.
