Halawa auto-theft suspect charged

A teenager who crashed a stolen car yesterday in Halawa while trying to flee from police was charged today with auto theft.
Lancer T.K. Jordan, 18, who listed no permanent local address at booking, was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, driving without a license and reckless driving. He is being held in lieu of $11,000 bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.
Jordan was captured and arrested after allegedly running from a stolen car he crashed into a guardrail at 4 p.m. yesterday on Moanalua Freeway westbound near the Stadium offramp in Halawa.
Police began tracking the vehicle with the department's helicopter following a report of a hazardous driver on the H-3 Freeway and learning the car being driven was stolen.
Jordan has been arrested numerous times as juvenile and is known to police in Central O'ahu for his alleged ties to GTAG or Grand Theft Auto Gang, a group that reportedly steals a particular brand of autos.
