Airline seats to Hawaii expected to decline March-May

Airline capacity on flights to Hawai'i is expected to decline slightly to 2.56 million seats for the next three months, a 1.0 percent decrease from the same period last year, according to a report released today by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
International air seats are dropping while domestic seats are still rising. The international seats are predicted to fall 12.4 percent to 636,515. Air seats from Japan are projected to fall 15.4 percent to 402,115.
Domestic scheduled service to Hawai'i for the March-to-May period is expected to climb to 1.9 million air seats, a 3.4 percent increase over the same time the year before. U.S. West seats are expected to rise 4.1 percent during the period, reaching 1.64 million. U.S. East air seats are forecast to fall by 0.3 percent to 283,940.
