Record producer and hip-hop mogul P. Diddy has done it again.

This time, his success comes not in the form of his own hit albums or a fashion line or a fragrance or whatever else he dabbles in as one of the most savvy moneymakers in pop culture today, but rather in the form of two hot pop bands that are bringing '90s-style R&B back.

Danity Kane, an all-girl pop group, and Day26, a pop boy band, are Diddy's most recent music-biz yields — and they're both turning out to be good investments.

Both bands, which were formed and signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records label as the winners of Diddy's MTV reality show "Making the Band 4," will perform tonight at the Blaisdell Arena.

Danity Kane released its sophomore album, "Welcome to the Dollhouse," last month. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making the group the first all-female outfit to have both its debut and sophomore albums enter the music charts at No. 1.

Danity Kane's current single, "Damaged," is a pop ode to broken hearts laid over a driving synth beat — a signature sound for the pop princesses, who've already mastered the art of generating sexy, catchy, chart-friendly hits.

Day26, named for the day the five-piece singing group was formed (Aug. 26, 2007), is a throwback to not-so-long ago R&B/soul boy bands of the '90s. The last time we heard a group of guys suaving it up vocally like this was when Boyz II Men were burning up the charts with their soulful harmonies.

Day26's debut self-titled album hit the top spot on the charts in its first week in release. Featuring the dapper quintet's first single, "Got Me Going," the freshman album is the best-selling male R&B group in Billboard's 17-year history.

Joining Danity Kane and Day 26 for tonight's performance is fellow "Making the Band 4" star, Donnie Klang.

Correction: The Making the Band 4 concert, featuring Danity Kane, Day26 and Danny Klang, originally set for June 27, Friday, has been postponed because of a scheduling conflict.
