NFL: Judge sets bail for man held in Javon Walker case

By KEN RITTER
Associated Press Writer

LAS VEGAS — A judge set bail at $73,000 for a man charged with kidnapping, beating and robbing NFL player Javon Walker after a night club-hopping this month in Las Vegas.

A lawyer for 30-year-old Arfat Fadel says Fadel intends to plead not guilty to charges he and another man followed the Oakland Raiders wide receiver from club to club before enticing him into a Range Rover and robbing him.

It wasn't immediately clear today if Fadel could make bail. He told another judge on Wednesday that he couldn't post $13,000 bail in a separate domestic battery case.

Police say the 29-year-old Walker willingly got into a vehicle with Fadel and another man about dawn on June 16 before he was robbed and beaten.

Police say Walker sustained broken bones in his jaw and around his right eye, and more than $3,000 in cash, three $1,000 gambling chips and a watch and jewelry worth about $100,000 were taken.
