Hale Koa worker set rally to urge contract agreement

Advertiser Staff

Union workers at the Hale Koa Hotel will hold a rally tomorrow afternoon to encourage the hotel to come to an agreement on a new contract.

The workers voted nearly two years ago to be represented by UNITE HERE Local 5. Last August, an attempt to decertify Local 5 as the union representative was overwhelmingly rejected by the employees.

Despite the vote, the employees continue to work without a contract. Hale Koa is owned and operated by the U.S. Army.

Tomorrow, workers will rally from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in front of the Waikiki property. Contract negotiations are scheduled to resume June 18.
