HAWAI'I KAI
Volunteers will paint school building Sunday
Community groups on Sunday will paint the inside and outside of the Kamiloiki Elementary School office building in the school's colors — blue and white.
The Department of Education will supply 45 gallons of paint, and the school and church community will pitch in with manpower, as will 40 volunteers from the HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union.
PTSA president Beverly Ray, who helped to prep the building this week, said the structure has not had a fresh coat of paint in about 20 years.
"You often hear the comment 'it takes a community to raise a child,' " she said. "Well, we are lucky here in Hawai'i Kai to have a community that wants to help raise our children and support our schools by making them a better place."
