Singer-actress Marlene Sai will be the ambassador of the 2008 Seniors' Fair — The Good Life Expo, Sept. 21-23 at the Blaisdell Center.

Now, don't call her tutu or auntie; she is a senior, but still very much young at heart.

HAWAIIANA: Kumu hula Tracie and Keawe Lopes, who are mister and missus, of course, are mounting a benefit for their halau, Ka La 'Onohi Mai o Ha'eha'e, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hawai'i Theatre. "Ku'u Ha'eha'e 2008" will assemble a roster of talent that will exhibit a diverse range of Island music — falsetto singing, traditional hula, ki ho'alu, even kolohe comedy.

The cast includes the kumu twosome, Karen Keawehawai'i (Tracie's mom, for those who didn't know), Aunty Flo and Aunty Mapuana, Jeff Auhoy, Kimo Alama Keaulana, Les Ceballos, Ikaika Blackburn, O'Brian Eselu, Hau'oli and Ku'ulei Akaka, Lanihuli Lee, Lopaka Kanaka'ole, Jamie Nakama, Samdhi Hawai'i, Chad Takatsugi, Keoni Souza, Joe and Shirley Recca, Ho'omanawanui Apo, John and Joy Aiwohi, Kehau Tamure, Brandon and Joy Parades, Kamalani Ho Wehrsig, and Tino and Kapua Dalire Moe.

At "3 Men and a Mahu" last Thursday night, an Asian showed up, too. Paul Ogata, who's visiting, did a killer half-hour set, joining Shawn Felipe, Lanai, Champ Kaneshiro and Mento Mahu at Brew Moon. Malika Dudley, weather person on KGMB 9, was in the audience, providing beauty, along with Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen 2007, Moani Hara. By the way, Kaneshiro and Lanai head for The Grove for the Anaheim Fourth of July weekend, so if you're headed that way, you might want to check 'em out. ...

SEEN 'N' HEARD: Taimane Gardner, the wizard on uke, and Konishiki, the retired sumotori who sings, performed at seven private shows for Toyota Japan the past two weeks at the Halekulani hotel. She'll also be seen on national Japanese TV, performing with the rock group Tube, and she treks to Japan tomorrow to complete her second album, due later this summer. She completed her last gig with The Royal Hawaiian hotel's lu'au last Thursday (the hotel now is closed for remodeling) and will join the Tihati lu'au show at Sea Life Park this summer. ...

Bud Forrest's patriotic show, "In the Mood," has played all over the country (including twice at the Hawai'i Theatre), but the producer-keyboardist had never visited Pearl Harbor. Patty Sherman rectified that by taking him to the historic site, which made him experience "chicken skin." The visit also "put everything in perspective," he said. ...
