Murder charges are pending against the brother-in-law of a 65-year-old 'Ewa Beach man who died last night after being stabbed multiple times during an altercation.
An autopsy today determined Adolfo Alonso Jr. died from multiple stab wounds to the chest and listed manner of death as homicide. Alonso was stabbed during a fight with Jose Tubera Jr., 59, at their home at 91-693 Pohakupuna Road.
Alonso's son, a 29-year-old Army man home on leave, witnessed the backyard altercation and called 911 when he saw his father injured. City Emergency Medical Services personnel responded at 6:10 p.m.
Alonso was taken in critical condition to Hawaii Medical Center-West where he died, police said.
Tubera, who left the scene, was arrested opposite 91-626 Pohakupuna Road at 6:32 p.m. He was booked for second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening for allegedly threatening Alonso's son with the knife to prevent him from tending to his injured father, police said.
Police recovered a knife at the fight scene.
Alonso is O'ahu's 12th homicide victim of 2008, eight of whom have died in incidents related to domestic violence.
