Inmate flees OCCC after meeting with attorney

Police continued their search last night for an O'ahu Community Correctional Center inmate who fled from her attorney while on supervised released yesterday.
Roxanne P. Garcia, 21, was returning from a supervised release with her attorney when she darted from his car and fled on foot from the OCCC parking lot, state Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Louise Kim McCoy said.
Garcia was behind bars awaiting trial on two counts of burglary in connection with a home-invasion case in March, in which she and three others are accused of burglarizing a Mililani home and using force to rob a woman.
The 79-year-old victim suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung in the home invasion. Garcia has been behind bars since March 24, and her aggregate bail is $75,000.
McCoy said Garcia's eight-hour supervised release was granted by a judge Friday for the inmate to attend a meeting at Hina Mauka, a drug and alcohol treatment facility. She was released into the custody of her attorney at 8:15 a.m.
Her attorney, George Burke, did not return phone calls.
