Past president of Western Union of Hawai'i; retired U.S. Navy Reserve chief petty officer; past president of the Rotary Club of Wahiawa/Waialua. Survived by wife, Elizabeth; son, Thomas; daughters, Barbara McIntire, Julia Bender and Kellie; brother, William; sister, Jane Miller; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. ELLEN KEAUPUNI BURKE HYER, 85, of Wahiawa, died July 10, 2008. Born in Honolulu. Retired supervisor at Schofield Commissary; member of Rainbow Club and Wahiawa Vision Team; a volunteer at Honolulu Botanical Garden and Wahiawa Botonical Garden; a 2004 outstanding Female Senior volunteer; was given a Wahiawa Neighborhood Living Legend Award. Survived by sons, Clifford and Steven; daughter, Carol Brummond; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Visitation 5 p.m. Tuesday at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; service 6 p.m. Committal service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Flowers welcome. Casual attire.

ETHEL REIKO KUSUMOTO, 81, of 'Aiea, died July 15, 2008. Born in Honolulu.
