NFL: Jaguars place 5, including Williams, on PUP
Associated Press
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars placed receiver Reggie Williams and four others on the physically unable to perform list Saturday.
Receiver Jerry Porter (hamstring), Jeremy Mincey (wrist), safety Chad Nkang (wrist) and tight end George Wrighster (knee) also were placed on the PUP list.
The five players can be activated at any time during training camp, but putting them on the list protects the Jaguars from being on the hook for their entire salaries if the injuries prevent them from making the final roster.
Porter had surgery to repair a torn hamstring last week and will miss at least the entire preseason. Mincey and Nkang are recovering from broken wrists. And Wrighster missed all of minicamp and organized team activities following knee surgery.
Williams sprained his right knee recently and was a surprise addition to the injured list.
The Jaguars also opened practice without first-round draft pick Derrick Harvey, who remains unsigned, and star running back Fred Taylor. Taylor was attending the funeral of Samari Rolle's father in South Florida.
