Tennis: Gicquel, Darcis reach Dutch Cup semifinals

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands — Top-seeded Marc Gicquel of France defeated Teimuraz Gabashvili of Russia 6-4, 6-1 today to reach the semifinals at the Dutch Open.
Gicquel will face defending champion Steve Darcis of Belgium, who stopped Christophe Rochus 7-5, 6-3.
The 31-year-old Gicquel is seeking his first ATP title.
In the other semifinal match, fifth-seeded Albert Montanes of Spain will play Oscar Hernandez. Montanes upset second-seeded Jose Acasuso of Argentina 6-0, 6-2 and Hernandez defeated fourth-seeded Marcel Granollers 7-5, 6-2.
