Advertiser Staff

HONOLULU – Gov. Linda Lingle has released $550,000 to be used toward the renovation of the Hanapepe Armory on Kaua'i.

Improvements will address overdue repairs, including replacing the armory's roof, which has deteriorated beyond repair; replacing ceiling tiles in the classrooms that were damaged by heavy rains in 2006; replacing rusted gutters and downspouts; and repairing damaged structural elements, according to a news release from the governor's office.

The project is also receiving $594,500 from the federal government.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2009.
