Land Use Commission defers action on Turtle Bay Resort

The state Land Use Commission today deferred action on a request that could affect parts of a controversial expansion planned for Turtle Bay Resort.
The Defend Oahu Coalition, opponents of the expansion, argued that the owners of the property, Kuilima Resort, have failed to implement conditions attached to the original 1986 agreement and should be required to show why the zoning should not be rescinded.
The commission deferred action, saying it planned to seek further legal advice.
But the panel did order Kuilima Resort to give a status report on the project to the commission by mid-September.
