Honolulu DUI: 37 charged in 36 hours

Six repeat offenders and eight others under the legal drinking age of 21 were among 37 people charged with drunken driving over a 36-hour period from late Friday night through this morning in Honolulu.

Charged as repeat offenders with $1,000 bail each were Patrick Charles Areal, 24; Daniel G. Andersen, 26; Dolten K. Dela Pena, 23; Joseph K. Kim, 55; Clarence Keawe Brown, 50, and Gary Viernes Respicio, 26.

In addition to the operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant charge, Andersen was charged with driving while his license is suspected for a previous DUI offense and also for an outstanding $250 warrant, while Dela Pena was charged with driving without a license.

Those under the legal drinking age charged with DUI were Megan Young, 19; Colson Lindberg Palani Ching, 18; Darryl K. Lee, 19; Ke-a Shawn Kaipo Caminos, 20; Tracey C. Ellazar, 20; Miricia Kiana Rapozo, 19; Justin C. Reyes, 20, and Andrew Aifaoto, 19. All are first-time offenders and bail for each is $500.

Aifaoto is also under investigation for a liquor violation involving a minor while Caminos has an additional charge of excessive speeding.

Twenty-nine of the 37 people charged were men.
