Law enforcement officers have rounded up 61 fugitives on Maui and O'ahu in a U.S. Marshals Service-led "Operation Falcon" June 24-27.
Fifty-one of the fugitives captured during the four-day operation were caught on Maui, the Marshals Service said.
Sixty-seven warrants were cleared and 14 new cases for various narcotics violations were generated.
The warrants that were served were for various felony offenses, including promoting dangerous drugs, methamphetamine trafficking and manslaughter. Officers seized approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine, 46 prescription drug pills, and 21 marijuana plants, the Marshals Service said.
"The success of this mission can be attributed to the sincerity of commitment by Hawai'i law enforcement to act as one body in apprehending violent fugitives," said Mark "Dutch" Hanohano, U.S. marshal for the District of Hawai'i.
Operation Falcon is the largest U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive apprehension initiative here. It combines the efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and included more than 30 law enforcement officers from nine agencies.
