TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"House," 8 p.m., Fox. When the writers' strike began, Fox set three episodes aside for later use. One of those airs Sunday, after the Super Bowl. First is this one; you can tell it's been waiting, because it includes a "secret Santa" subplot. The main plot involves a woman with sudden hand paralysis — so sudden that she fails as a spotter and her daughter is injured. At first, Dr. House suspects the mom is withholding something. Then bigger problems emerge.

TONIGHT'S MUST-TAPE

"One Tree Hill," 9 p.m., CW/KHON digital 93. When this show jumped ahead four years, viewers were perplexed. Here's an episode with more flashbacks, to answer some of the questions. We're back to the first year of college and Lucas is helping Whitey coach Nathan's basketball team. Meanwhile, Lucas tries to preserve his long-distance relationship with Peyton.

OF NOTE

"American Idol," 7 p.m., Fox. Here's the fifth round of auditions, in Omaha, Neb.

"The Biggest Loser," 7 p.m., NBC. There's a soda temptation and an escalator challenge. Also, one duo retaliates, after being accused of laziness.

"Nova: Secrets of the Parthenon," 8 p.m., PBS. It took only eight or nine years to build the Parthenon, but experts have spent 32 years restoring it. That isn't easy, this interesting documentary says. The classic building was constructed 25 centuries ago; for a while, there seemed to be no records of how it was built. Adding to that, the building, deliberately or not, has no uniformity; each piece only fits correctly in one spot.

"NCIS," 7 p.m., CBS. In this rerun, Ducky finds a case by accident. He's working with a research cadaver, when he spots signs of murder.

"The Unit," 8 p.m., CBS. This wraps up the strong, two-part rerun that has Jonas on the run from a hit man. Kim gets an assignment from Jonas; meanwhile, Mack is still prisoner.

"Carpoolers," 8:30 p.m., ABC. Can this be? Laird (Jerry O'Connell) is NOT voted the handsomest man at his office. This has a profound effect.

"In Treatment," 10 p.m., HBO. Here's an instant change-of-pace for this involving series. In Monday's opener, the patient (played by Melissa George) was shattered and crumbling; today's patient strides in with layers of confidence. It's great work from Blair Underwood, who slowly lets the doubts seep through.

"Boston Legal," 9 p.m., ABC. Alan relapses into his problems with incoherent speech. Meanwhile, Shirley is handling the case of Denny's friend, a military guy who has confirmed that he's gay.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. A murder at a victims' center leads to a probe of military secrets. Elizabeth McGovern plays a psychologist who has the protocols for interrogation.
