KNOW YOUR CF BULBS
Now that we're all switching to compact fluorescent lightbulbs, some things you should know (from ShopSmart magazine, a publication of Consumer Reports): Turning CFLs off and on a lot shortens the life of the bulb. Also, don't expect them to maintain their intensity: They can lose as much as 10 percent of brightness after 1,000 hours, and as much as 20 percent before they fizzle out.
