TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"American Idealist: The Story of Sargent Shriver," 10 p.m., PBS. In an era of pragmatic politics, it's invigorating to view Sargent Shriver's career. He led the Peace Corps and the "War on Poverty." He kept pushing ahead, taking chances. Shriver urged John Kennedy (his brother-in-law) to risk all the Southern states by aligning with civil rights activists. He was an idealist, an enthusiast, an optimist. It's a fascinating story, told with depth and with room for his critics.

"The Naked Brothers Band" season opener, 6 p.m., Nickelodeon. This show — which usually airs Saturdays — has lost none of its loose, goofy charm. Nat and Alex Wolff, who just turned 13 and 10, star and write the songs. Directed by their mom (former "thirysomething" actress Polly Draper), they mix intelligence with natural zeal. This hour, focusing on prom night, has loopy humor and some fun music.

OF NOTE

"Dance War," 7-8:30 p.m., ABC. Last week, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba chose their six-person teams; the two leftovers, Corina and Maxx, went home. Now the teams perform and viewers vote; someone from the losing team will be ousted.

"Prison Break," 7 p.m., Fox. Inside the prison, Michael's escape plan comes crashing down. Outside, Linc and Sucre plan an ending for Susan.

"Everybody Hates Chris," 7 p.m., CW/KHON digital 93. In a rerun, Chris' friend is staying with him — and getting better treatment than Chris does.

"Kyle XY," 8 p.m., and "Wildfire," 9 p.m., both ABC Family. Jessi is alive after all; now the new concern is that she'll go public, revealing Kyle's secrets. Afterward, "Wildfire" opens it season; Kris might return to help Raintree ranch.

"Big Bang Theory," 7:30 p.m., CBS. In a terrific rerun, Koothrappalli learns he can talk to women — but only if he's been drinking.

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," 8 p.m., Fox. Sarah looks for people who will help the deadly Skynet project. Meanwhile, her son and his protector try to blend in at a new high school.

"American Experience: The Lobotomist," 9 p.m., PBS. Told with restraint and depth, this is the story of Dr. Walter Freeman. His unchecked use of lobotomies had him alternately considered a hero and a villain.

"Medium," 9 p.m., NBC. Joe has a shot at a good job — if Allison can help the employer and his wife find their daughter. Michael Gross ("Family Ties") and Kate Burton (Meredith's late mom on "Grey's Anatomy") guest-star as the couple.
