More than 150 high school and middle school students will compete in the fourth annual Hawai'i State Science Olympiad at Leeward Community College on Saturday.

Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona will speak at the opening ceremony and Leeward Community College's interim chancellor, Manny Cabral, will speak at the awards ceremony.

The Hawai'i State Science Olympiad aims to promote science education to students and is run by a board of directors that includes educators from public and private schools in Hawai'i. Hawai'i State Science Olympiad is affiliated with the National Science Olympiad, with winning teams eligible to compete in the national competition.
