Disney animator John Edgar Park will discuss "Carl the Robot, Doris the Bowler Hat and a Boy Named Wilbur: Character Rigging for Feature Animation" and "From Concept to Render: The Creation of a Feature Animation Character" today at Kapi'olani Community College. The first lecture is 2 p.m. and the second is at 7 p.m. Park is a lead character technical director at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and he's worked on "Meet the Robinsons" and at Sony Picture Imageworks on "Spiderman 2"; 734-9382 or ssussman@hawaii.edu.

AUTHORS GATHER AT WAIALUA LIBRARY
Caren Loebel-Fried, whose award-winning "Lono and the Magic Land Beneath the Sea" children's book was published by Bishop Museum Press, will take part in Friends of Waialua Public Library's 11th annual Authors' Night and Book Sale at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, beginning with a pupu reception.
