Renovation to close Princeville Resort for 7 months

Advertiser Staff

The Princeville Resort will close for seven months beginning in September for a renovation that will leave 366 hotel employees out of work.

The renovation is part of the hotel's transformation into a St. Regis Resort.

The luxury hotel, where rooms range from $600 a night to $5,800 a night, said it has notified the union representing the hotel workers and is "working closely with the union to assist associates through the transition."

"Although we have not entered into negotiations for a contract with the ILWU, we intend to bargain in good faith over the contract and the terms of the temporary closure," General Manager Kelly Hoen said in a prepared release.

The project will include a redesign of the 252 guest rooms and meeting function space; renovation of public areas, including the lobby and swimming pool; and the addition of new restaurants and a spa.
