KAHILI, Kaua'i — A brushfire that broke about 1:30 p.m. yesterday near Halfway Bridge on Kaua'i burned about five acres, county officials said.

Fourteen firefighters and rescue specialists from the Kalaheo, Koloa and Lihu'e fire stations responded, along with a battalion chief.

Inter-Island Helicopters provided air support. Within an hour and 15 minutes, the fire was deemed under control and was fully extinguished at 3 p.m.
