West Maui highway projects to be discussed tomorrow

The Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council will discuss various West Maui highway projects at a meeting set for 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Lahaina Civic Center Social Hall, 1840 Honoapi'ilani Highway in Lahaina.

Brennon Morioka, interim director of the Department of Transportation, will discuss projects including Lahaina Bypass Phase 1, Lahainaluna to Keawe Street; Honoapi'ilani Highway Widening, Lahainaluna Road to Aholo Street; Honoapi'ilani Highway erosion control measures Launiupoko to Olowalu; status of environmental impact study for Olowalu to Ukumehame project; and Honoapi'ilani Highway Pali section Ukumehame to Ma'alaea.

As a follow-up to the council's Jan. 17 meeting on public housing, representatives from the Hawai'i Public Housing Authority will be available to answer questions. They include Travis Thompson, board chair; Chad Taniguchi, executive director; and Ione Godsey, public housing supervisor HPHA's Maui Asset Management Project.
