Council to discuss West Maui highway improvements

LAHAINA — State Department of Transportation interim Director Brennon Morioka will discuss West Maui highway improvement projects at Thursday's Governor's Maui Community Advisory Council meeting.
The event starts at 5 p.m. at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Among other things, Morioka is expected to discuss the first phase of the Lahaina bypass project from Lahainaluna Road to Keawe Street and the widening of Honoapiilani Highway from Lahainaluna Road to Aholo Street, The Maui News reported.
As a follow-up to the council's Jan. 17 meeting on public housing, representatives from the Hawaii Public Housing Authority also will be available to answer questions. Those expected to attend include board Chairman Travis Thompson, housing Executive Director Chad Taniguchi and Ione Godsey, public housing supervisor on Maui.
