Increased salary ranges for several University of Hawai'i coaching positions were approved yesterday by the Board of Regents, the school announced.
The most notable of the salary ranges was for women's basketball head coach, which will rise to between $118,488 and $209,784. The previous range was from $71,388 to $135,636.
The salary ranges will be used by the university when negotiating new contracts.
UH women's basketball coach Jim Bolla said through a spokesman he recently received a contract extension, but wouldn't reveal the terms. The terms were not immediately available from UH.
The new range for football associate head coach and coordinators is $116,640 and $203,688 (previous range peaked at $117,000 for coordinator and $125,998 for associate). The new assistant coach salary range is from $56,340 to $165,000 ($50,160 to $90,288).
Salary ranges for other positions, including football head coach and volleyball head coach were approved last July. The men's basketball coach range was approved before UH hired Bob Nash last April.
The Board of Regents also approved an exception to a board policy and will allow additional compensation of $8,000 for each of the 2007 football coaching and administrative staff.
The money was provided by the June Jones Foundation through the University of Hawai'i Foundation.
