Is it something about scissors?
Well, there's Johnny Depp as "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" in movie theaters; now there's "The Barber of Seville," launching tonight as a Hawaii Opera Theatre production.

The Rossini opera, a mainstay of opera theaters worldwide, is the comic tale of the roundabout romance of Rosina (played by Christine Abraham) and the Count Almaviva (Zachary Stains), who disguises himself to win assurances that she loves him, not his money. The count also enlists the aid of the clever barber Figaro (Stephen Powell) to win over Rosina and away from her guardian, Dr. Bartolo (Jake Gardner).
