"Love the Arts" in Volcano. Volcano Art Center's fundraiser for educational facilities takes the theme, "Amore per le Arti," and features wines, food and art with an Italian flavor, including a tasting of limoncello, a bright yellow lemon liqueur from southern Italy.
Items on the block: A Blue Hawaiian Helicopter adventure for four with National Geographic and Outside magazine photographer G. Brad Lewis as guide; a tasting of Volcano-grown teas with tea expert Eva Lee. Fine art and craft work include a framed, original oil painting by the center's artist, Dietrich Varez. Additional paintings, jewelry, glass, sculpture and woodwork on offer through live and silent auctions. Also an original plein-air oil painting from Italy by Vicki Penney-Rohner, whose solo show is on display at the center gallery. Ira Ono is auctioneer; Pedro Ka'awaloa will present an array of popular and classical Italian songs.
On the menu: Fine wines, chilled teas, exquisite chocolates, and Italian-inspired pupu, including tortellini, Tuscan truffle pecorino and buschetta goat cheeses, prosciutto with basil and mozzarella, marinated vegetables, fresh seasonal fruit, and grilled sun-dried tomatoes and Italian sausage tidbits. 6 p.m. Saturday in the Great Room at the art center's Niaulani campus. $40, 967-8222, www.volcanoartcenter.org.
